Ever since I had my baby 5 mnths ago I haven't had a normal bowel movment. They are huge and hard. My anus rips open ever time and I bleed for hours. It's very painful and I'm afraid of infection. I've been taking stool softeners and they don't seem to be helping. I can't see a doctor because I don't have health insurance. Is there anything I can tke or eat?? I'm nursing my baby so I don't want to take anything that could make him sick...

What do I do??? I'm desperate!!!

increase your fiber intake and try using a hemmroid medication

i have 3 girls and had the same problem after having all 3 of mine-women who have had children tend to get hemmroids more easily.

high fiber foods include:

-prunes
-prune juice
-dates (nuts)
-beets
-whole grain breads,muffins,or bagels
-bran flakes
-brown rice
-apricots,raisins,kiwi,apples w/ skin,oranges
-broccoli,spinach,green peas
-kidney beans,lima bean,black eyed peas

all of these are great for your baby too b/c they will help provide the necessary nutrients he needs through your breastmilk...

you can also take over the counter fiber tablets.

the hemmroid medication comes in cream form and is inserted inside the anus to help shrink the hemmroids that are inside the anal wall-this should help some too

hope you feel better soon

Sweet potatoes and other vegetables might help. But there must be a free clinic or something you can go to for medical advice. Your condition strikes me as possibly being very serious, especially since stool softeners do not help. There may be some deficiency in your digestive juices, maybe it's a systemic imbalance as a result of your recent child birth. Because you're already sore, that contributes to the problem.

You need to heal. Maybe I'm naive but can they really turn you away if you go to the Emergency Room and tell them you're bleeding rectally?

Dr. Oz a specialist spoke about this on Oprah Winfrey's show today and his RX was to eat more fibre and to pour a couple of tablespoons of cottonseed oil into ur oatmeal each morning and that should help lubricate the walls of ur intestines to allow ur bowel movements be easier passing. Watch Oprah her show has really turned around and is dealing with more real topics these days. I never miss her shows, never know when some of the info u learn can be used by someone like u and it's all natural and won't effect the nursing of ur new baby.

Lets try this. It's what I do every morning before I eat breakfast. I make 1 large pot of green tea and after about 10 min I add 1/4 cup of prune juice to the tea pot. give the green tea and prune juice mixture a stir then start pouring and drinking. It's a wonderful mixture sort of tastes like a bit of lemon in the tea.

Then after I finish drinking I have my breakfast after lunch I will have a good bowel movement and this happens everyday, since I have been doing this I have had no problems at all.

If you can get into a doctor, they have free samples of a drug that I think you need,it is called Zelnorm6m.g and 2-3 a day makes your bowels move,if you can not afford to see a doctor, your body is not the same after having a baby,I would say drink grape juice and prune juice and use a enema if you need to!Best of Luck!

in the beginning, you may see your well being care expert - rectal bleeding could be a symptom of something requiring extra interest. it may no longer be, besides the indisputable fact that it is often extra suitable to envision it out on the instant away than sit down on it for a jointly as (excuse the pun). If something untoward is going on on your bowel, the quicker it quite is detected the fewer complicated it is to handle. In answer on your particular question, attempt to advance your intake of entire ingredients (brown rice, brown bread and so forth), green vegetables which includes broccolli, and drink some extra glasses of water an afternoon. the aggregate of water and fibre will help to maintain a typical digestive device. Please make the appointment with your healthcare expert as quickly as you may.

I drink slimming green tea.Every day around 4-5pm.By bed time my lunch is out.(i don't eat dinner)It feels good.I don't know if you can do that with nursing. But another thing i know is prune juice.I wanted to add ,that when you bleed you have to see a doctor. It happened to my husband. He didn't have an insurance,he waited and waited until he got very sick.we ended up spending few thousand dollars, plus one year of taking 12 pills a day, plus mental pain and suffering. Please for the sake of your baby don't wait.

Drink 4 oz of WARMED prune juice every morning and take the baby for a stroll. The combination will make you go. You might also want to try fresh fruit and a bran muffin with a cup fo decaff joe.

Also, drink LOTS of water.

Take mineral oil (available over the counter at the pharmacy). It will not harm you or your baby. Also be sure to drink plenty of juices...especially apple and grape, and get plenty of fiber in your diet. When you take mineral oil, it will be even more effective if you drink hot tea or coffee afterwards, plus it gets rid of the oily taste
