I would probably die of boredom if the internet, pokemon GBA games, computers, DSs, PSPs, and other virual stuff weren't invented yet. So, technically, I can't live without china.

If it's not China, it would be another country. There are always be poor countries that will work for less. For instance, there are dirt poor countries like Congo or Ethiopia in Africa, who will work for lesss as well. There's very little we can stop this from happening.
Some people advocate tariffs to raise the price of imports. We don't do this because, good will become more expensive. As a country, the United States will have higher expenses. We will find Canada and other European countries like France making more money than the U.S., because they have less expenses.
China will slowly have improvement and wages will begin to rise over time. We already seeing some of that happen already. One day they won't be able to work for less anymore.

dont tempt me...this is the thing...being a freedom loving american at heart it greatly disturbs me to see the onslaught of good and services that are NOT made in the USA...I bet i couldnt get four steps outside my door w/ out tripping on one of my or the neighbors kids toys that were made somewhere besides here...sometimes i look at the cars and their drivers and I think they'd drive any car as long as it WASN'T made in the USA...I think this is conformist, weak minded, complacient behavior that has no place in todays society...but yet it's freakin huge...dont get me wrong, i think stuff from other countries is cool...and yes I do own two chevys and a mercury (and my Z28 will smoke almost any car you can point to hehe..) but cmon now...I've read real estate sites that talk about german and japanese peeps buying out huge parcels of tropical paradise estates and i think to myself.. I think...self?..I sure would like it to be me to own one of these exotic seaside freakin paradises.....I suppose the chinese are the same way...we buy their goods at an enormous rate...pouring more and more money into their economy making them dirty rotten filthy stinking rich...we dont even think about it...we dont even consider the fact of repricussion...the money that might have been given to a USA (or whatever country your from) company might go into a new business in your city offering jobs w/ stock options that could have given you enough money to start your own business etc etc...its true...theres more to life than meets the eye...especially when it comes to money...

Of course we could.
Things would cost more and you wouldn't have as many things readily available.but at least that would give Australia the chance to have some financial stability.
It would probably take at least 10 years before things would be on track proerly. It would be a big change for the whole world.

Yes, you could live without China.
Everything can be made and available in US & Canada. Only thing is the cost in US/Cdn dollars is higher then imports from China.
That's why I lost my job due to these imports.

Yes!
Some of the best toys are not made in China.
Playmobil, Steiff, Pustefix bubbles, Lego, brio etc...
It's whether people are cultured and affluent enough to accept and purchase them.

*Yes things would be made somewhere else where the labor is cheap. If we want it most of us will buy it at the going rate whatever that may be.*
