a virus/spyware/adware or not enought ram or disk space will not make your computer freeze to the point where cntl-alt-del doens't work. this is usually an issue with a device driver or a hardware problem, often video drivers/cards, motherboards or memory. finding out which one can require quite a bit of trouble shooting, and it's often easier to save frequently and just deal with it.
You can try upgrading to the latest version of all drivers.

It happens. Usually, we issue more than one command too close together and the computer gets confused and freezes.

If control+alt+del doesn't work, you may have to power-off. Sometimes the I/O button won't work normally. In this case, press and hold the I/O button in for 6-7 seconds -- it will go off.

i assume you probably did no longer get the "hint". unload IE -- packed with bugs as are somewhat some Microsoft courses -- and save Firefox, between the final browsers on the information superhighway. Or are you purely attempting to instruct something else?

1.) possibly a virus. Scan your computer

2.) Not enough ram. Upgrade it

3.) Overheating. Add more fans.

You might not have enough memory and it crashes from that. You also might need to make sure that you have the latest drivers for all of your hardware.

You are probably running out of space. It's time to defrag your files.
