i am 2o yrs old. I have researched all day about PMS symtoms and treatments, and how to get my boyfriend to understand that even though me being moody really sucks, its completely normal for at least 7 days a month.

For the guys: If you have a sister, girlfriend, wife ect. and get to experience PMS symtoms every month, you do you deal? Are you understanding and more caring during that time? do you get pissed off and make the anger worse? What things go through your mind? what do you wish you could tell us when we act so bizarre? do you even think its ok, or normal? Thank you

Ladies: Like me, I hate it. That cramping, bloating, food cravings ect is just plain ridiculous, but, we cant help it. In this case, what do you do to cope with your brother, boyfriend, husband ect. when you realize you had said something, or started something completely un called for? do you fight more? how do you feel they act towards you? does it seem that they try and make it worse? HELP!!!

In a long term relationship (H / W) it is important to accept it as a reality. Both, specially husband has to be prepared for this.

One fact that helps this preparation is that is can be predicted with one or two days margin.

A woman comes as a package and this is in there with all.

So as a man I just wait and avoid confrontations. Let her have a little more time and space. And more importantly do not change the routine by adding something.

In early days I used to be amused though if not angry.

One thing I tell her before it is likely to start (schedule) is that dont react. And I also get determined to not to give reactions.

Both have to take precautions if they want a longterm relationship. And believe me it is not difficult if you love her.

Hi
I will try to respond in a helpful manner.
First are you speaking of pre or post? Hmmm, do you experience both? Would the experience last 7 days for each? Hmmm, 14 days out of each month you have an excuse for being really hard to get along with. Does that sound rather convenient to you?

Sorry, I feel a hint of cynicism. I think in the latter part of the 20th century, as an excuse for a prominent Cau woman who'd killed her husband a "Doctor" decided this was the reason. Don't let answers here make you think you'll pull that one off!

Anyway, I know we all are under all sorts of life's pressures but I have found during these times of pre and post menstrual syndrome, my mate though ill towards me seems coochie crunch with others. So perhaps she's only effected by in when in my company. That makes me feel sad. No, I choose to feel sad. I hate feeling sad. So I get mad because she made me feel sad. However, there's no syndrome I can cling to for my choosing sadness instead of gladness etc.
Sorry, I have to go now. I don't feel I can continue this way. Actually, I feel fine.

Do you ever feel fine? When fine is a feeling, which it isn't according to dictionaries of old. I've come to learn it's an acronym for ... F'ed up, Insecure, Neurotic + Emotional.

That describes how many of us "feel" after considering your query!

Cheerio!

In a secure relationship, people understand that we are not always on our best behavior, and give some leeway for those bad days, however, if you are having so much trouble with the PMS as it sounds from your letter, you should talk to your GYN. There are medications that may benefit you during this time that will make your life much less miserable, not to mention those that you love and deal with every month.

Oh, I'm afraid I have nothing in the way of help but only extreme understanding. People have learned to stear clear of me, that's the only thing I know. I spend the first 2 days making everybody mad, and then the last 4-5 weak and sorry.

My husband knows to just stay out of my way. Yes, he will say something to the effect of "Boy, you're bitchy". At this point, I go from 0 to ***** in a fraction of a second. My kids just look at me like I've grown a second head or something. Your best bet is just to try not to say anything negative at this time. I know, easier said than done. After the fact, just make sure that you apologize for any mean things that you may have done or said.

what happens is your progesterone levels just go straight down and your emotions just spiral with it. Not to mention the other symptoms. I've gone through it many years now and anti-depressants don't seem to touch it. So all you can do is use it as a time to treat yourself good - buy a new outfit or shoes. Go to a movie or on date with your hubby. It's hard not to let it out when you're feeling angry - that's a major feat to control. Just be good to yourself is all.

my friend gets PMS and i usualy just, try to ignore her when she snaps at me. but if she REALY bitchy ill say "is it that time already". but most of the time i understand that what girls go through sucks, and i try to remember that the way her grumpy remarks make me feel is not as bad as what shes feeling.

Honestly, when I'm PMSing or even on my period, I'm usually pissed off more than anything, so I have hot, angry sex with my husband. Usually makes both of us feel better.
