Sprint works off a CDMA network. Nextel works off an iDEN network. I won't bore you with the technical specifics, but we are talking about two very different technologies here. Think gasoline vs diesel.

Eventually, phones will come out that will use Sprints CDMA network for phone calls and the iDEN network of Nextel to chirp (well, thats the plan anyway). But a dual mode CDMA/iDEN handset is still a long way off from seeing the light of day.
