I definitely think you should sing for your mother. She would enjoy that and it would give you practice. You really should sing in front of as many people as possible and as many times as possible... Practice makes perfect!

I think you should. I mean, why not? If you are doing it for the talent show then you will need some audience practice before you take the stage.
