I've thought of it too, and been very tempted, but I have decided not to for now.
I figure if I ever do the surgery, I'll wait until all the problems are found out and corrected or improved. Look at the improvements already made.
I don't find it so much of a hassle to wear the glasses or contacts. It's sure cheaper than the surgery. In fact, I bet it would cost less to keep myself in contacts and glasses for the rest of my life than the surgery costs. LOL!

Listen, there's no long-term studies on the effects of laser surgery. The surgery today is almost fool-proof, and it's basically done via computerized laser where maps are "drawn" of the surface. It really takes about 15 seconds per eye.
If you have relatives that have Rheumatoid Arthritis, or if YOU have Rheumatoid Arthritis, laser surgery is not for you. The natural eye lens loses Collagen Type II from the eyes and the natural eye lens can rupture (and cause blindness) during the laser sculpturing procedure. NO honest and reputable ophthalmologist would even consider performing this procedure on you under those conditions.
I would suggest that you continue to use contact lens. I wear hard lenses because they are less prone to eye infections, are also easier to care for. I use nothing but gas permeable lenses.
If you hold off, there's a new procedure that is out where they make a tiny incision on the side of the eye's natural lens, and a thin membrane-like lens is inserted and it unfolds and is maneuvered to the center, and you open your eyes to perfect vision. It takes a few days to heal, it involves a bit of discomfort, like with laser (but with laser you lose skin cells during the sculpturing process of the laser). It is far less evasive and far safer. HOLD OFF, please. Wait a few years until it's safer and more commonly practiced (why pay someone to practice and gain experience on your eyes...?).
Good luck and best wishes.

I've worn glasses for 18 years and contacts for 10. The problem with laser surgery is that not everyone is eligible for it, look into it to see if you are. Severe astigmatisms are often not treatable, and your prescription needs to stay the same for a period of several years before you can have the operation. I have a few friends who have had it, however, and all report positive results. good luck.

I wear glasses and I have to wait for laser surgery until I'm 25
So make sure you are at an age where your vision won't change drastically in a short period of time...

I have glasses, i just don't feel comfortable with contacts. If you get laser surgery done, you will still have to have glasses for reading. If you far or nearasighted, you don't need glasses.

I got laser surgery back in 2001 and it was the best money I've ever spent. It is so cool to have perfect vision.
I went from 20/500 to 20/20

I know people who have had it done. They're doing fine. However, I wear contacts and I personally wouldn't get eye surgery unless it was necessary. Have a consultation with a doctor and get your questons anwered first. Take Care!

I wear contacts and it seems like every yearly eye exam my prescription keeps changing....(getting worse)...i know several people who have had the laser eye surgery, and i have not heard one bad thing about it. I'm actually thinking of getting it done myself. Good luck with whatever decision you make♥
