Be alert to things that make you "feel" cheerful--they're abundant.
Keep a cheerful attitude even when you're all by yourself. Smile.
Don't gnaw at your problems, (everyone has them), & NEVER take them with you when you go out your door. Make people laugh. It's contagious. People will love to see you; shopkeeper's, postal people, everybody. This will make you even more cheerful! May be a little effort at first, but it grows on you...

I would say to you if you would like to remain cheerful all the time I would recommend you keep a view of things could always be worse or just remind yourself that there are a lot more less fortunate people in the world. Some people like myself tend to Drink wine after all is said and done for the day for health reasons and others like my sister in law tend to drink all day. She says that as long as she is drinking everything is great. I say that's an alcoholic for you. Just keep in mind that not everything can go as you would like but Hope for the best and expect the worst, that way at least your outcome is always Good.

When we learn how to give love and compassion to everyone we will become cheerful. Yes, I think it is possible to remain in that state always but not as a participant of this world. A person who has attained this state would be an enlighten being and may choose to not be here or to be elsewhere in a state of bliss.

1. happiness is a choice. your attitude affects so many around you, so smile, you may bring someone up who was more down than you to begin with.
2..In tough times remember: every crisis has a beginning, a middle, and an end. You will get to the end of this rough spot. Learn what you can from it, and try to find some pocket of joy in the midst of it.
3. Be grateful. We all have much to be thankful for, and its hard to be unhappy when you are counting all the wonderful things in your life.

Attitude!!!
The truth is, no one is always cheerful.
We all have our moments of negative feelings.
It's how you go about dealing with those feelings
that set you apart from the rest.
You can try to resolve all your problems by your-
self, but that is hard. Don't get me wrong, it can
be done, but still, it's difficult.
It's always best to have good and trusted friends
you can turn to for help. They could be one, or both
of your parents. They could be one or all of your
brothers and sisters, or maybe just a friend or two.
You just need to know whom to trust with your
feelings and confide in them with your concerns.
They may not have the solution to your problem
that you may want to hear, but they know you and
they'll always look out for you in your best interest.
They will always trumpet your best attributes.
They will never betray your short comings.
In the end, they will help instill the confidence you
need to be the cheerfull person you want to be.
They will let you know that you are just a normal
person, going thru life's up and downs.
The rest of the world will see you as the cheerfull
person you want us to see. Not a care in the world!
We'll never know, unless you tell us, that the reason
you are always cheerfull, is because you posses a
positive attitude. You know what you can and can't
do. You know whom to depend on for help.
Knowing yourself is always good, but letting others
know who you are, is always best.
Smile, and the whole world smiles with you.
Best of cheerfull wishes to you.

I suppose Methadone could be a solution, but seriously, perpetual cheerfulness is for imaginary figures like Santa. We are all only human/ We can't avoid the bad things in life, but we can make the best of the good things.

Unhappiness or non-cheerfulness is an offshoot of desires remaining unfulfilled in spite of intense longing for them. Vices like lust, anger, greed, perplexity, enmity, jealousy, etc. are hindrances in the restoration of the individual to his innate nature which is pure consciousness.

Its remedy lies in the vital reverting to its root which is consciousness in all its immensity. On ascendancy of determination to this end, the sense of guilt, as the cause of unhappiness or non-cheerfulness becomes subsided.

Meditation on the boundless consciousness incarnate conceived as aditi can redeem one of one’s depressive psychosis to its last trace.

Interiorisation of consciousness is the way to ascend its state of infinity. Restoration of oneself to the universal self through meditation, results in the dissolution of complexes, removal of unhappiness or non-cheerfulness or depression and attainment of redemption.

Hence, there is no other way except meditation on vastness or boundlessness which assimilates everything in itself by dissolving everything in consciousness, giving rise to eternal peace that passeth all understanding.

Then you become one with existence, compassion and love flows from within which encompasses without. Wherever one is or whatever situation of life one is -- one is always cheerful or to say blissful.

For one, acknowledge that you won't always be cheerful :-) To be happier more than not, focus on the positives in life; appreciate what you have; be loving and kind to those around you; and put effort into achieving your goals.

I would suggest reading St. Terese of Lisieux's book "The Story of a Soul." Although she was not always "haha" cheerful, she was at peace. It is an amazing read whether you share her beliefs or not.
