Do a song you can put your heart into. But have someone who knows you and will give you honest feedback help you. Unless you sound like the pop star, don't try to imitate that pop star. Be yourself.
But if you really want to steal the show, pick a number like a musical where you can act as you are singing.
I don't know if you are male or female, but how about
"For Good" from the musical, Wicked?

A talent show is meant to entertain. If you are singing alone, you should pick a duet that is sung by a man and a woman. Make one side of your face look like a man with a mustashe and one side of your face look like a very femine woman. When it is the man's part, just turn your head... when it is the woman's part... turn your head... it is really funny, but it can also show your talent as a singer.
