Is repudiation of TRIPS provided for in the articles of TRIPS or in the Vienna Convention? or somewhere else? or is it not possible?

TRIPS (protection of intellectual property rights) has been added to the GATT and applies to the members of GATT. My understanding of TRIPS and review off the Vienna Convention indicates that repudiation of TRIPS is not contained in the Vienna (diplomatic relations, treaty laws and protection of the Ozone) Convention.

The only option to repudiate I saw during my reading of the TRIPS was Article 64 which allows disputes, settlements and states that no member is obligated to the agreement prior to the expiry (ending or ceasing to be valid) of the agreement during g 1 year following the date of a country entering into the TRIPS Agreement. Also members can be suspended for various reasons.

All of this is covered under the 1 Year Transitional Agreement. After the 1st year...sorry, I don't have the answer to that other than there are penalties for member countries depending on their level of economic development.

Hope this is of some assistance.
