flush the radiator, check the proper installation of the thermostat, could be the water pump, could be low oil, low oil pressure, sludge buildup blocking oil flow. Check transmission fluid. A hot transmission can cause an engine to heat up. unless you are losing coolant its not a head gasket. When was the last time you changed the timing belt. If it needs changing go ahead and have the water pump replaced.

I would start with flushing the radiator to see what kind of flow you can get through it. if you go to autozone or other auto parts store you can get stuff to put into the radiator to flush it. if you take it somewhere they can do a better job then you can do at home usually.

just try removing the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator let the fluid drain out (dispose of properly) then run some water through it with a hose to see what comes out. there should be a steady stream of water close to what comes out of the hose with moderate flow of water.

if there is a good flow of water comeing from the radiator I would assume the water pump. which you can usally expect about a $400+ repair job becuase while they are at it most will change the timeing belt with it which by the millege on the car it is probably due for a new timeing belt to.

be careful driving it don't let the temp get to hot because it will cause a lot of damage. if you have to drive it like that don't go far and turn the heat all the way up with the blower on max. this will help keep the temp down some.

I think I would get the radiator flushed and replace the antifreeze/coolant. Check all hoses for leaks. Are you losing water? If the water pump is leaking, you should be able to see water somewhere. I hope this helps.

If the water pump or radiator are not leaking then do a coolant flush all the cores in your rad are probably clogged!! Good luck!!!

Could be either. Look at the radiator to see if there is any obvious damage or leaks, if not, my money would be on the water pump.

Does it overheat? or does it burn oil also? I would have the radiator replaced, it's the radiator's job to keep the engine cool.
