+2=+2
8x = -7+7x
-8 = -8+7x

from the other side but remember
that subtracting a negative turns it into
a positive
8x = 7 +7x Then do the same thing for the x

Let's see here. You are solving for x. Move all x's to one side of the equation and non x's to the other side of the equation. Remember, the signs change when you cross the equal sign.
8x-2= -9+7x
8x-7x = -9+2
x = -7

General:
You want to isolate the variable [x] by doing the same thing to both sides until there's just an x left on one side of the =.
Specific:
You want to get rid of the -2 or the -9. So you either add 2 to both sides, or you add 9 to both sides.
If you add 2 to both sides then you get 8x = -7+7x. If you add 9 you get 8x + 7 = 7x .
