1st of all, dsl is not through the cable company. You are getting broadband from the cable company with the cable modem. Check the tcp/ip settings in your network card and make sure the obtain IP address automatically and obtain DNS server address automatically are checked.

Also, check the FAQs and tutorials on broadbandreports.com's networking forum.

It is your network set up that has something to do with your service provider. Your service provider should have given you instructions how to handle this kind of a problem or send you the proper instructions to do it yourself. So, call them up and ask them to respond to your problem. But, I do have a question for you too, since you go through your cable company why are you using DSL and not cable which is much faster?

learn to use the "ping" utility (from the cmd prompt). When it "kicks you off" then you use ping to see if you can still commuicate with your modem, then your DNS server and Gateway, and finally outside places like yahoo.com.

If you can't ping it, then that's where the break is.

You running good antivirus and spyware protection?
