Could it be possible that the MAF was damaged if it was removed to clean the throttle body?

No you do not have to remove the MAF sensor to clean the throttle body. You just have to remove the air intake tubing from the throttle body. The MAF will be closer to the airbox. It should not have been nor did it need to be removed to do the cleaning.

Yes you need to remove the MAF to clean the throttle body!!! The car will not run if it is removed but that is the only way to clean it as much as you can!! If you spray threw the MAF you are going to screw up the MAF and maybe the computer because it is going to read all kinds of stuff when you are spraying the cleaner!! Good luck!!!

You sure can and sometimes just using carb cleaner on the thing while the motor is running makes a world of difference.
