Now many of you are thinking: Uh, what about Bush? But I disagree. There's nothing conservative about launching a war of choice based on trumped up "intelligence" and lies. There's nothing conservative about running up our federal deficet to all time highs. There's nothing conservative about leaving our country's borders unprotected, and there's nothing conservative about expanding the roll of government to a theocratic state so that you can force your superstitions on a nation. If you're a Barry Goldwater conservative and the only modern "conservative" is a draft dodging, murdering, war mongering, lying, coke snorting, Texas town drunk, for whom should you cast your ballot?

As a Barry Goldwater conservative, I held my nose and voted for the Libertarian candidate in 2004 (although they are flakes and don't realize that power abhors a vacuum).

In 2008, I'm probably voting for the Unity08 candidate (see http://www.unity08.com ) because the Republicans are going to rolf up another theocrat as their candidate, probably Dr. Frist, after they get down smearing John McCain...

I don't see the Democrats nominating a candidate who believes in relatively small government.

Since Goldwater wanted to conserve the founding principles of our country, he took positions that were largely liberal. I'd also suggest voting Democratic.

Now, hopefully, speaking as a liberal, this'll finally be the time for national heatlh care. I'm guessing Goldwater wouldn't have liked that, except perhaps in pondering that the burden for citizens' health care is now spread amongst the whole society in most civilized countries today and American business is uniquely burdened by having to add the cost of America's health care to its products' prices.

At this point, vote for whomever will be the strongest in repairing the damage done to us by the lying, theiving, mass murdering gangsters in the white house.

do what I did. vote Libertarian. theres a party that is at least opperated on priciple. a vote for the republicans of today only reinforces the neo-con hold on the party, and the democrats are by no means an appealing option. in this political climate, a protest vote is about all you can do, and the libertainans are the most fiscally conservative third party around.

You had me with you until you said, .......... "there's nothing conservative about expanding the roll [sic] of government to a theocratic state so that you can force your superstitions on a nation." Once I read that I realized that you are not conservative at all. Not one bit. You are obviously a propagandist for the left. If you hadn't said that one thing I would have thought your post was quite agreeable. But a statement like that reeks like a rotten mountain of liberal trash.

I guess the confusion comes from the fact that the word conservative means the opposite in everyday conversation as it does politically. In every day conversation, the word means cautious and prudent. In that regard, the dems are more conservative than the repubs. For example, Kerry had a tremendous record of protecting the environment. I think protecting our only environment is cautious and prudent, dont you?
Clinton inherited a deficit and left us with a surplus.

Vote democrat.

If you don't like any of the candidates, do what I do - write your own name on the ballot paper and make your mark next to it. You won't get elected but at least you know you voted for someone you agree with.

And if you do win - ask for a recount.
