Steven Spielberg grew up making movies.

In an interview with the American Film Institute Spielberg recalls his earliest movie making memory - his enjoyment of crashing his toy trains into each other. To avoid making his father angry about repairing the trains he chose to film the crash at the points where the trains met.

Throughout his early teens, he made other amateur 8 mm "adventure" movies with his friends. He charged admission to his home movies (which involved the wrecks he staged with his Lionel train set) while his sister sold the popcorn. At the age of 12, his first production was complete which included both script and actors. Just one year later at the age of 13, Spielberg won a prize for a 40-minute war movie he titled Escape to Nowhere. In 1963, at the young age of 16, his 140-minute production of Firelight (which would later inspire Close Encounters) was shown in his local movie theater and generated a turnover of $100 in profit.

Sure. Why not? Some of the movies I've seen Hollywood come out with seem to have no director at all.

He needs a script for what he plans to do and a basic camcorder. Let him work at it. At his age, trial and error make good teachers. He will learn that he can make his own mistakes and how to correct them without the pressure that comes through formal instruction.

When the time comes for specialized training in high school or college, he will already have a grasp of the basics from personal observation. That makes it easier to grasp the concepts and techniques that must be mastered.

Find a movie DVD that has "The Making Of..." to see what goes into putting a movie together, or the Project Greenlight Series

have a somewhat nice camera (preferably digital) and some sort of editing system (with digital on a mac- just drag and drop)....but if digital is not the case...u kinda need to film it in the right order.......secondly-think about what you are gonna make the movie about. Mabey base it off the resources you have around. 3rdly - get some people to be in it. And 4th...... i dont know. my review seems pointless- heres some links.... http://www.amazon.com/Feature-Filmmaking-Used-Car-Prices-Revised/dp/0140291849 (good book) http://www.filmmaking.net/

Sure, just get a camera and like one of those Video Editing software (e.g. Apple Final Cut Studio 5.1), make a directors account on YouTube and submit a video..you could get famous like Smosh, they started out like that, and now they're uber famous on the internet :p
