i guess its much easier to do so. you get abnormal kids no matter what. maybe those kids were the ones with the jackal for a face in their times.

That was the norm back then. And you know whats funny,if the shoes were reversed they'd probably say that about us.A lot of what their customs were is weird to us.But how many of our customs would be weird to them.
They are not the only ones to have done that either, the Romans, and Greeks also married and had children within a single blood line.
And i don't think they had a choice, their marriages were arranged.

They were attempting to maintain the purity of their godhead. After all they beleived they were gods and their creation gods Osiris and Isis were brother and sister.
If Adam and Eve were the first humans, who did their children marry to continue the human race? Each other obviously, thus all of us are the products of incest. and are technically brothers and sisters.
Genetics and biology were not the Egyptians strong suit 3000 years ago.

well whether or not you are religious. humans had to start with 1 man and 1 women sometime.. Adam and Eve obviously were of the same blood and had children and in order for the population to start growing, their children had to marry each other.. etc etc.. cousins then married each other... It all started from one central point.. we are all related in that sense arent we?

well, because first of all, technically there isnt that muhc more of a chance of having genetically malformed children when marrying your sister. I wouldnt do it, but there you go. Also, they did it to keep the royal blood in the family

Cleopatra also married her broither. I think it was that they thought they were gods and could get away with it. Normal egyptians didn't do it, just the royalty.

I think it also occurred due to economic goals-- i.e. keep the money in the same family. But even though... Yuck!
