Think about how the work day would have been more productive. More work done in a shorter period of time. Light would extend the hours of production. Also with typewriter a person's illegible handwriting was not an issue. With greater illumination surgeon's could see better. Emergency surgery could be performed at night.

Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.

The light-bulb changed work environments becsue it was a safe way to extend the workday past sunset, as opposed to fueld laps which caused fires.

The typewriter greatly sped up writing and documentation, and provided uniform legibility of the aforementioned. Coupled with the useage of carbon-paper, it largely put an end to the scrivner--like Bartleby The Scrivner--who made his/her living copying documents by hand.

The lightbulb lets you see the typewriter so YOU CAN DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK.
