I havent come across any sequals I like better than the original, do we all expect more from the second and are disappointed when it doesnt happen.

I second the vote for Shrek 2...the first was really, really good & I thought, no way will the second come close. I was so wrong! The addition of such rich characters as Puss-n-Boots & Fairy Godmother was absolutely fantastic. There were so many more subtle jokes in the second one too...very visual...I loved it!
Oh wait! Let us not forget Army of Darkness! A sequel to a sequel...one of the best movies ever! Totally hilarious!

The only sequel ever to win an Oscar for best picture, The Godfather II, topped the amazing standard of the original. Pacino, De Niro, family, corruption, historical.

I enjoy watching Grease2 more than the original Grease, and also Sister Act2 better than Sister Act.
But otherwise, I share your opinion that the first in series is usually the best, and anything after that is just trying to capitalize on the success of the first.

Some people thought the second Godfather was better than the original.
But one sequel I didn't think that was better than the original was Terminator 2.

Yeah, Terminator 2 was better than the original.
Surf Ninjas 2 was also better than the first one.
and the 2nd Paris Hilton sex tape was better than the first one.
