You need to talk to a Dr.. I have this too- it's called RLS. There's meds out there to help, i.e. Requip..
It seems to be getting more common. I have had symptoms since I was about 11-12 and am 29 now.. Some days are HORRIBLE and it will be bad for weeks and other times it's almost non-existant. Stress seems to trigger some of the really bad episodes, sometimes just thinking about it(like now!!argh!!) will trigger the strange sensations..
I've also had the symptoms in my wrists and upper back...

I know you are gonna think this is NUTS...but it seems to work for an interesting percentage of folks, and no one knows why!!!
Take a bar of soap out of the wrapper. Any kind. Put it under the fitted sheet in the foot area of your bed, tuck the sheet in, and remake the bed as usual.
When you GO to bed,
consciously put one foot or the toes of one foot,
depending on how you lay in the bed, on the bar of soap
(through the sheet covering it).
I did it, and for a long time, my rls has diminished to almost nothing!!! It is a folk medicine and alternative idea,
but worth a try!
Don't ask a doctor...wasting his negative breath!
Just do it, it will cost you nothing, and what
do you have to lose if it works for YOU??!!
Good Luck!

I've heard about putting a bar of soap underneath the sheet that you are sleeping on helps. I don't have restless legs so I have never tried it but, I have heard that women have sworn this works. Seriously, look up information on it.

I experienced this problem years ago and it was a caused by low folate levels found in a blood test...so maybe you should find out more about folate and the symtoms of low folate

You may have to see your doctor for a prescription. A friend of mine says Tylenol works for her, and nothing else will.

aside from medication here is what worked for me. When you lay down, move your feet back in forth, flexing your calve muscles as you do it. This worked for me, my husband calls it swimming in bed
