Women very rarely die in child birth these days. If it's likely she will have complications, than the doctors will preform a Caesarian section to make sure no dangers arise. Perhaps for the story the mother could die because of the c-section surgury?

Pre-eclampsia is the first clue then it turns into eclampsia with her preasure 200 over 140 or higher and the babies heart beat speeds up to fast and they both can die that's why they enduce labor. So she can have symtoms of hot flashes, fating spells itching all over her body but she's to busy to go to the doctor and when she does it's too late.

you cant. If a life treating problem present before the birth they will do a c-section.If during they do what they can,but at the end only god can tell that one.
