I like to pack a cooler and some snacks, if it's a long trip we will put blankets and pillows in the car and some great music. Usually loud upbeat stuff, my friends and I have some favorite songs that we use when we head on a road trip.
AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Madonna - Like A Prayer
Sir Mix Alot - Baby Got Back
Jake Owen - Yee Haw
Danielle Peck - Findin A Good Man
Anything else that's fun and you can sing along to.

If it's warm roll down the windows and sing, just enjoy the trip. Half the fun is in getting there. Make sure you take a camera to capture the fun moments, and when you start to get sleepy or run down stop for a few minutes, get out and stretch. Enjoy it, road trips are some of the best times ever. Also make sure you have a map or directions. Have Fun!

Have a variety of snacks, water, music, flashlight, extra roll of toilet paper (just in case you have to stop on the road), a little extra cash or an emergency credit card, phone numbers of triple A or your insurance company. Make sure your tank is full, belts checked, tires aired up, etc. Might be worth the price of a check up by a trusted mechanic before you go. Oh, and a map!

Make a compilation cd of all your & sis-in-laws favorite songs and plan ahead who will drive what shift. Things like NoDoze and Red Bull can help if you need a caffeine kick.

I don't know about stops to see but take a camera in case you see some pretty stuff.

I used to live in Idaho & would make the trek to SLC quite often. Unfortunately, southern Idaho & Utah are not highly attractive areas, so the scenery will probably be pretty drab. And, if you are driving at night, it won't matter anyway. :) Since it's only a 2 hour road trip, my suggestions would be to make sure you are filled up on gas before you leave...that you know where you're headed so you don't end up in a bad place after dark. Make sure to bring along CD's and water or soda or something to drink.

Have fun!!!!

2 hours is a short trip. My only advice is to arrange your schedule so you do NOT drive in the dark.

My advice is not to stop and keep driving till you get there. 2 hours of driving is easy.

Don't drink too much so you don't have to go to the bathroom.

Don't pick up anyone on the road.

Don't aswer your phone while driving.

You can do pre-mental trip inventory: familiarize routes with maps on hand, check present weather condition, timed your trip to avoid driving at night, check your car and accessories including cd's, take something to eat. drive safely and have fun.

Check your tire and make sure the tank is full. Also, I always like to keep a cooler with pop or water and a few snacks. It saves stopping.

Make sure your car is in good working condition (get a tune up).
Start earlier in the morning.
Travel on the weekend (a lot less traffic).
Enjoy!
