i was told that my sunfires vaulty crank sensor caused my car to stall and the oil in spark plug well as well.
After replacing crank sensor my car started but stall again after a minute.Mechanic is nowing taking out the NEW crank sensor and putting my OLD crank sensor back in, then putting in an Ignition Module, which he says is the problem..and he said YES this ignition module can cause oil in spark plug valve via way of crank sensor.. .Cost at first -crank shaft replacement was 550.00, plus to do a EGR cleaning.
Now that he is putting my crank shaft back and doing ignition module instead.. he says sorry for the mishap and will keep the total cost the same. is this a deal??
Haven't gotten the car back and running yet.. so i dont know exactly which way this whole deal is blowing yet.
but would this be a deal?
so confused

news bulletin... didnt start with new ignition module.. mechanic says my fuel level sensor is broke, i was out of gas although it showed a full tank of gas!

My fuel gage has been broke for months;always showing full tank.. I religously tried to keep gas in the tank and had no problems till now. question is DO I TRULY NEED A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR.. IF I RELIGOUSLY KEEP PUTTING GAS IN MY TANK!!! IT COSTING ME BIG TIME TO HAVE THIS LEVVEL SENSOR PUT IN MY CAR.

If he is putting on a new ignition module and spark plug boots he is putting the cart before the horse. You need to replace the valve cover gasket to stop the oil leak, then replace the boots, etc. The oil could be the cause of the stall, from oily park plug boots absorbing your igntion spark that should be going to the plugs.

sounds like two completely different problems, oil in the spark plug wells is a valve cover gasket most likely. the stalling could be either the crank sensor or ignition module. sometimes if they are intermittent problems techs try things to fix the car, because there are aleast 10 different electrical problems that can cause stalling and then you have mechincal problems too.

if they keep blowing you off take it somewhere else

The crank sensor and the ignition module is ruffly the same price!! But I do not think that either have anything to do with you getting oil in the spark plug, that is just a totally different think that you guys are talking about!! Good luck!!!

I would take it to another place, preferably the dealer, to run proper diagnostics, before this guy gives you any more of a runaround than he already has.

sounds like you should find a different mechanic. doesn't sound very honest to me.
