If you can play "Bumblebee" at 12 at the speed indicated, you must be good.

If you don't enjoy it, move on.

Do remember though, that (most) girls like to be impressed by a guy playing a musical instrument...

Deep down, you must have some reason that might keep you in it, or you would just quit. Maybe you should ask yourself what good you think it can do you, especially now that you have put so much time and effort into it. Also, you might ask yourself what you have learned by keeping at it like you have --- if nothing else, you have learned to set goals for yourself. Also, ask yourself what enjoyment you can get out of it if you do stick with it. For example, even if you don't end up using it professionally, it can bring a great deal of stress relief and intellectual growth. Or, on the other hand, you might find that if you're good enough, you can earn a few extra bucks when you are busting your butt after high school, doing whatever you're going to do. If you truly can't stand it, I would still think about the skills you have learned from it and think about how you can use those in something you will truly enjoy. But it sounds like you are off to a great start, in any case. Good job! Keep it up, whatever you do.

Little Brother, You are the only person that can answer this question for yourself. I will tell you, however, that I also was subjected to the "torture" of music lessons at an age when I would rather have been out running through the woods and getting dirty, and all of that sort of nonsense. I stuck with it, and eventually moved on to other instruments.
I can now play the trumpet, guitar, bass, druims, sax, trombone, and piano, and I find that the music- along with my knowledge of theory and everything related) has become my main source of solace from any troubles I encounter during my day.
I did- for a time- pursue music as a career, and it was my knowledge of reading music, and musical theory, and everything related that allowed me to pass almost every audition I was handed (the most notable failure being the fact that I didn't have the right kind of hair). Now, I have given up my dreams of being famous, and play my guitar for the pure and simple pleasure of making the sounds come out.

As I said, you are the only one that can make that decision for yourself; however, I truly feel you will regret not sticking around to enjoy the benefits of your hard work.

If you hate it then, go I guess. But before you do, realize what you are giving up. That is an incredible talent. Why just try and play songs that you like, or music that gets you going. I'm sure since you have played as long as you have, you probably have a very good ear for chord progression, so sit down and try and write some stuff. You may like it more than you think.

I'm sure that part of the reason you hate it is because it's something you have to do rather than something you want to do. Maybe you should take some time off and if you have "the itch" you can go back to it... but for your own joy rather than your fathers. Another option is to take up a new instrument, like guitar and have the fun of learning an instrument that you like and enjoy still having music in your life. No mater what you do, make sure you do it to make yourself happy.
