if you already have a wireless router, then you go in to your desktop, go to your control panel, click printers and faxes, and right click the printer you want to share. Then click on Properties, go to the sharing tab and then click share this printer. Then right click on My computer on your desktop, click properties and then go to the computer name tab. Then on your laptop, you go to start, right click on My Network Places and click on search for computers. then type that name in the search box. Click on the computer that comes up in the search results, and then right click the printer you just shared! Click on connect to printer, and vuala there you have it, you are connected to that printer, all you have to do is add it like you normall would add any printer!

Okay here what to do step by step.
Install the printer drivers on both your desktop computer and your laptop.
Make sure your wireless router is configured and works with your computers. Your desktop needs to be connected through a ethernet cable to the wireless router. And the printer needs to be connected to the desktop.
Now go to My Computer>Control Panel>Printers & Faxes> and make sure your printer is there and set as default.
Now dont close that window as we'll return to it.
Now press Start>My Network Places
and on the side menu click - Set Up A Home Or Small Office Network
Follow the instructions by clicking Next, and towards the end it will ask if you want to enable printer and file sharing, make sure you agree to that.
You will now probably have to configure the same thing on your laptop as well.
Now restart your computer if needed.
Now go back to My Computer>Control Panel>Printers & Faxes
Right click on the default printer > properties > Sharing (Tab)> and check share this printer.
Now go to your laptop and back to the Printers & Faxes window
On the side click add a printer, check network printer, or printer attached to another computer.
Find it on the network and your done
