Peterkin Pog,
Had a goggly gog,
Neither a cat and neither a dog,
It wiggled and woggled and walked on it's/his toes,
And followed Peterkin Pog where ever he goes.

This was in a book I had as a child in the 1973
I have never known anyone else who knows this rhyme and I would hate it to die with me, I do not know who wrote it and I don't remember what book it was in. All I remember about the book is my mother gave it to me when my cat got ran over when I was 5.

This is one of my all time favourite poems. I'm 46 and I can still recite it

Peterkin Pog had a Goggly Gog
It isn't a cat and it isn't a dog
It shuffles and puffles and walks on its toes and Peterkin takes it wherever he goes

Peterkin wanted some apples and so along to the orchard he said they must go
But Goggly Gog wasn't happy at all he couldn't eat apples his mouth was too small

The wind had been busy and there at their feet lay big juicy apples already to eat
So Peterkin cleaned them and started to munch but Goggly waited in vain for his lunch

Then a big bird flew buy with a crumb in its beak, ahhh thought Peterkin we must get him to speak
So they shouted "Hello" and the bird said " Tweet Tweet" and down fell the crumb at the Gogglys feet

Now it's funny how Gogglys like stale crusty bread and the big bird accepted an apple instead
Let's all have a picnic said Peterkin Pog and then a nice nap added Goggly Gog
