We knew of North Korea's intentions, from our own and the world intelligence agencies.
North Korea is ruled by a dictator, who took over from his father, another dictator. In most free nations of the world, this man is generally considered to be a mad man.
At present we are working within the frame work of the UN to resolve the problem. I suspect the UN will have no more luck with this than they did with Sadam; the only difference really being now is that even China knows this guy is insane, and he has tested a nuclear bomb to show that he has all the materials to make one. He is advertizing to terrorists that the material are now availabe and for sale, if the price is right. The North Korean economy is crumbling, they need hard money, not to feed the poor but to maintain the lavish lifestyles of the upper crust and the crazy man. It is said he'd go to nuclear war if there weren't enough marshmellows in his Fruit Loops.
