Actually it is pretty uplifting. At that point in time if a person was born dead and dumb (as it used to be called) peoples pretty much wrote them off and never gave them a chance to accomplish anything.

And there is a moment of intense happiness when the little girl Helen Keller, is able to actually communicate thought and idea. Imagine being shut off from the rest of the world unable to communicate with anyone or they with you. It is being totally inside of yourself with nothing to relate to. The sheer joy of being able to connect sign language with the things around her and know that she would be able to talk with people and learn things and be self reliant was an awakening of most vast proportion.

And from that jumping point, Helen learned and was able to help other people in becoming independent peoples rather than their prior dejected treatment by others.

So it has it's moments of sadness, but it's glory far out weights the sadness. It is the human spirit rising victoriously despite the trials and tribulations set before it.

No, the movie The Miracle Worker isn't depressing. There is hope for a lot of people, thanks to Annie Sullivan and others who have come after her.

No. It's uplifting and wonderful. Her life began when she realized that the feeling in her right hand meant what was running through her left hand. It was great.

I don't think so.. it's about Helen Keller... and her teacher, Ann Sullivan.

Helen Keller grew up to lead a successful life despite being deaf and blind....
