for me.my goldfish lived for 8 years before it die.it grew from a small baby goldfish to a big and fat one.haha.its not that easy to take care of it.cause the waste that the goldfish dispose dirty the tanks easily.so do clean the tank at least once a week so that your goldfish will have a longer lifespan.

I won a goldfish at the local fair 9 years ago and he grew to be about 10 inches and turned solid white. He lived till just last month and died because of an illness that I couldn't get rid of. Goldfish are low maintence, but are messy fish. Goldfish can live up to 25 years and grow to be 24 inches long, if the tank they are in is big enough for them to grow that large. My best friends own a pet store and I basically live there, goldfish are my favorite!!!!

Some people are bad fish parents, and have complained to me about having a goldfish for a couple of weeks. But with proper care and feeding, I once had a goldfish live 11 years. He cost me 10 cents, and he grew about 6 times his original size, and was a great, easy pet to keep.

an average goldfish in an average house lives between 2 days and 2 years
a average gold fish that is taken care of can live 20-25 years

dont know about "goldfish" that you buy at Walmart, but carp (which is the species that goldfish come from) live for a VERY long time - moslty because they never stop growing - scientist have wondered why this is and hope to find out to help people live longer.

I don' t know about an average goldfish, but I do know that I had one that lived to be 9. AND it was won at a carnival.

2-5 years ..some records show people have kept goldfish for 20 years..with good tank care and good water!!!

Depending on how clear the tank iand etc. mine lived for 1 year. my friends lived for 2. so it really how much you cared for it.( mine died cause the cat attcked it) :(
