LOL--is "computer language".
It's not NECESSARILY meant for you to actually laugh out loud in real time.
When I used LOL--it's because I'm imagining myself in a REAL LIVE/PERSONAL dialogue.
I insert my LOL's in places where I think I'd laugh if I were talking in person.
Many people say that the LOL's are overused.
But I use them quite often because...in person I'm ALWAYS laughing--always thinking something is humorous! while I'm talking.
At the same time...there really are some people that overuse them. They use them in the weirdest places.
But to answer the question most direct.
NO...I don't USUALLY laugh when I insert an LOL. As most others have stated...I'm laughing mentally.
But if something is really very funny. You can't help but to laugh out loud.

Mostly I smile but sometimes I let out a bit of a guffawf - you know like short smothered giggle
And I have to say I have never actually rolled around on the floor when I have used ROFL but again I definately giggle with that one

I'm laughing on the inside.... I usually try to maintain a poker face while using a computer in a public setting. If I didn't, people would think I was crazy.

Sometimes I am laughing till I cry, other times I laugh just a little and other times I just smile or smirk, and sometimes, I'm just smiling or laughing in my head.

Not really, it is more of way of laughing but in a more silent way. I mean if your computer was in front a bunch people, and you just busted out laughing people would think your weird. However, I do giggle.

No, I usually just feel amused inside. Or, sometimes I do smile if it is actually funny. Funny question....lol! =)

Only sometimes. Sometimes it is funny but I laugh in my head. It is not often that I really laugh out loud. Only if it is funny enough.
