sic is latin for such, which means that whatever the word sic is placed after probably is wrong spelling or grammar. Example: He was their. (sic)"

Is that what you mean?

It is Latin for "thus" or "so".
Sic is used by editors when they are using portions of letters or statements which contain words which are spelled wrong or used incorrectly. The (sic) following a word means that the editor is aware of the error but does not wish to correct it.

When John Wilkes Booth shot President Lincoln, he cried out "Sic semper tyrannis", which means "So be it ever with tyrants"
He then jumped from the balcony and broke his leg.
That's what the history books say. I wasn't there at the time, but did visit the theater when I was a child.
