go to a doctor. clairs uses a gun with a pretty much blunt earring. the gun forces the earing into your ear, and forces the tissue out of the hole.
A "doctor"(someone who is licensed to peirce) would probably use a needle, whice i hear is a much better way to do it.
i had mine done at claires 7-8 years ago, and they STILL get infected when i wear earrings.

Claire's is more than qualified to pierce your ears. The earrings that they Pierce with come pre-packaged and are completely sterile. The gun itself doesn't touch your ear, only the pre-packaged earring does. The gun is a quicker and more accurate way to do a piercing. An infection usually results from irresponsibility, not cleaning the ear, or a reaction to the type of metal, also not the fault of whoever did the piercing. Claire's is more than trustworthy and the competitive prices make it the obvious choice for ear piercings.

It depends on which Claire's. One would think that all Claire's stores would have the same reliability, but I wouldn't be so sure. When I got my ears pierced at Claire's everything turned out fine, but mostly I think that was because I followed all the rules one I got it done. Whenever you get a piercing you have to keep it clean with some kind of sterilizer (I think that's the right word for it) no matter where you get it pierced, otherwise it can get infected.
Overall, I think Claires is trustworthy. But if you are still having doubts, go to a doctor.
P.S. (I didn't even know doctors did piercings...)

For the safest piercing, go to a tattoo parlor! There, you have trained professionals and sterile needles! I wouldn't ever trust Claires, Walmart, etc. My niece had her ears done at Claire's and the piercing gun got stuck in her ear. The lady told my sister that it was not terribly uncommon for that to happen. I implore you, get it done by trained professionals.

NO NO NO!! Please do not go there. My son got his ear pierced there 2 years ago and they didn't do it right. He has thick earlobes and they used a short post earring and when she pierced it, it stuck. She pulled it out as hard as she could. It took all of my willpower and strength not to hurt her. Please find somewhere else.

I work for a Dr's office. BE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS CLEAN AND STERILE!!!! Gloves are on and everything is taken out of sealed packages!!! You don't want to mess with anything where blood is involved. I don't want to scare you but be careful.
