Yes, got my last two jobs that way, I posted my resume on Monster and I had several responses from companies that viewed my resume and called. You can also have Monster preform a daily searches for you using the parameters you defined. Check it out it free to you so it worth the try.

Hi,

I have gotten my last 2 jobs from posting my resume on Monster. Both times, it did not occur from me submitting to a company, but rather a recruiter/hr person finding my resume in the search and contacting me.

There are a few crucial tricks though. You need to find the positions you want, and look at the keywords in the posting. Then update your resume to include those exact words so it will appear in the search. Also, another very important tidbit is to create a clear, descriptive title.

Hope this helps,

Leo

My husband got a job this summer from posting his job on monster and career builder. A recruiter found him. He still has recruiters calling him. He is in a corporate high demand position. I have put a resume up but all I get are people who want me to start my own business or sell something. Nothing that would be a real job.

I've posted my resume on Monster...can't actually say I got really any responses from just putting it on their website. I actually had to look through the jobs listed and "apply" to the ones I was interested in before I got any type of response. Mostly what I got from just having my resume posted were some "miscellaneous" recruiter/job agency e-mails referring me to their website, or asking me if I was interested in a "contract" (aka "temp") position.

I have, however, had much success on Monster when I was looking for a new job, in terms of interviews. I believe 2 of my past jobs were the result of my applying on Monster...I'd definitely use it again if/when I'm ready to start looking.

Also, they have an awesome resume writing service on Monster (haven't checked out Yahoo's job site to see what they offer) provided by another company where for a fee they'll update and "overhaul" your resume...I was totally impressed by the results (it was well worth the price).

I've been in and out of the job market for 7 years now.
My experience is to use Career Builder, Hot Jobs & Monster.com to find jobs and then go to actual the website of the company you wish to apply to and apply directly with the company (not via Career Builder, Hot Jobs or Monster), I've found you get better results when you go straight to the company.

Also check out the company's website, see if that's a place that you actually want to work at. Find out everything you can about that organization before applying.

Good Luck!

Yes, it works. I posted a resume on a site in Florida and got a call in 2 days. I found out that this particular employer reviews several hundred resumes a week. If you have a lot of experience but aren't getting any calls, you might want to have your resume reviewed by a professional resume writer. You may be underselling yourself or not incluing information that employers look for.

Not really. The employers have to pay per search. The employers who search for you, aren't ones you want to work for.

You will be better off applying for jobs by surfing all of the job boards. They don't pay for that, only for posting the job.

I got several jobs through Monster and Career Builder. I got a lot of inquiries through Hot Jobs.
