I am specifically looking to find information relating to the ill effects of analgesic epidural injections after continuing to suffer in a variety of ways myself, after the birth of my daughter three years ago.

headaches can last a few days, infections and bleeding are immediate side effects too, if they were to damage any nerves you would feel that immediately as well, no ill effects that appear after a few years, good luck

I honestly haven't heard of many people suffering from long term effects of the epidural. Mine actually didn't work - it only numbed my left leg and I felt everything else. The only thing that affected me afterwards was a headache and light headedness. I'm so sorry that you're still dealing with problems from the epidural. Have you asked your doctor about it? I know it's hard to get a straight answer from a doctor about an epidural problem. I went through this myself. The guy who gave me my epidural couldn't get my back to stop bleeding for a LONG time. When I asked my OB/GYN about this, she wouldn't say much - probably to keep me from thinking that it was the doctor's fault who gave it to me. I think they're way too afraid of law suits these days. I wish you luck! I hope you find the information that you're looking for.

Long term side effects for the mother include:
Neurological complications
Backache (weeks to years)
Postpartum feelings of regret, loss of autonomy
Fecal and urinary incontinence or bladder dysfunction (inability to urinate)
Paresthesia ("pins and needles")
Loss of perineal sensation and sexual function

Hope this helps!
