It is always best to keep the fetus in the uterus for as long as possible. The reason being is for the assurance that the fetus has fully developed lungs. So to answer your question, often.

While it is possible that a 33 week old fetus will be able to breath successfully on his/her own after birth, doctors don't want to take that chance, neither should you.

I encourage you to allow the physician to administer meds for as long as possible. Only when your contractions break through the meds, and fully dilate your cervix will the doctors stop administering meds. I speak only through experience.

I've had tributaline, and finally magnesium. I survived, and I believe you will too. Do the right thing and let the baby finish developing.

I think now they just let you go through labor at 33 weeks...Premature infants have been making alot of progress lately. They may give you some drugs to delay birth just for enough time to give you some meds to develop the baby's lungs, but I don't know if they'll stop it at 33 weeks.

They can give the drug to hopefully stop the labour as bub is to early and needs as much time inside you as possible, sometimes it doesn't work and bub will have to be born but will go straight into ICU and will stay there until full term. If you are given drugs to stop the labour you will also be put on complete bed rest to give bub the best chance of life been inside you for the next few weeks.

if someone is experiencing labor at 33 weeks they should almost certainly get drugs to get the child to term. Do they still work? You'd better hope they do if you are the mom.

I think pretty often because you actually arent supposed to deliver until 36 weeks and most doctors would want to be safe and make sure the baby is healthy and fully developed.

Yes, I don't remember how often they give it, but my water broke at 35 weeks and the babies were fine only had to spend 11 days in the NICU.

Yes,it works but they shouldn't give too much because when it's time for you to go into labor it could slow it down.Take it, just be careful.

usually they'll give you medicine once and basically bed rest you for a while and it will help but every one is different.
