I read that superman episode too, but coal doesn't turn into diamond. They're crystallized deep in the mantle, and delivered to the surface via volcanoes. The article I found just says it takes "millions of years"

Dr. J...coal...or any other form of carbon can be crystallized into a diamond...of sorts...give enough pressure and temperature It may be the recent one found or common bort that is imbedded into earth drills. How about the method of turning ones anscestors into diamonds??
