Hi. So ive had the same pair of VANS shoes for a year now. I love the shoes and are comfortable but there are running on their lasts threads. I need to purchase a new pair of shoes, shoes that i can wear everyday to and from college. I'm tired of vans. Ive purchased other shoes but not for school. My other shoes are nicer loafers and such but i need a cool pair of shoes. I was thinking of some Nike's that dont look all gangster/baller-ish. Kinda change it up a bit...but which ones? I'm looking on eBay as my primary source. Can anyone recommend a good pair of shoes i might like?

If personality is a factor here then this is who i am: I prefer the indie rock music yet i dress modern with fitted polos and jeans such as from American Apparel.

HELP! I want new shoes!

Nikes will be the best bet. If you want something really cool and limited editions.

Nike Airforce Ones,
Nike SB Dunks
Nike Dunk Lows

And the even more limited ones:

Bathing Ape - Bape Sta
Visvim
Headporter

Do these searches on the internet and you would see what i mean. they are very cool and way limited.

Try this site:

pickyourshoes.com

they have some but your best bet would be seaching on ebay and yahoo hong kong, yahoo japan auctions (for reference).

Cheers.

I totally know what you mean about the flashy shoes...it was rough for 'mellow styled' guys for a while.

Something like a leather or suede Converse, or the old school Puma style in suede. DC shoes has some decent stuff...or Skechers, like a leather shoe.

I dont know what type of Vans you were sporting-lace up, slip on, suede Hoochie's, but they are all pretty basic...

One comment: Indie, to me (cuz im 39 and graduated in 85) I see everything they list for "indie" or "emo" on ebay is 80's--and in the 80's, they were flashing back to looks from the 50's, Rockabilly and 60's, Mod/Ska! Funny sh*t. What's old is new again. Always.

Anyway, check out these websites, you can browse by catagory and you can even sort by color.

Go for something from Puma, Adidas, Palladium, or Ben Sherman. Take a look at sneaks from American Eagle, or some of the more "tailored" sneaker inspired loafers from Skechers. Lots of possibilities that will go with your duds, but still look different.

You know what, Converse are really great.
Theyre comfy and look actually really good with anything. Relaxed look, like Vans.
And having them doesn't limit you to one "style".
The options are limitless.

I really like converse shoes(also called chucks). they look awesome with jeans and polos, my boyfriend and i both wear them, and we have the same sort of style that you do. they are really comfortable and come in a lot of colors!! you can get them at stores like underground station.

try Nike. they make some good shoes you can walk in.. but your best bet is just to try them on... and believe it or not.. PAYLESS has some good shoes.. inexpensive, not necessarily cheap.
