Hi, I am currently 5'10 and i want to be able to dunk. I recently bought some 5 lb ankle weights. If i wear these, and practice vertical jumping, will my jump get higher?

Do anything that strains your calf muscles. Toe tips. Also work ur foot the other way go get the anterior side of the calf. Sit down and pull your toes up towards your knee and you'll feel the muscle I'm referring to.

I was known as white jordan in my high school years ago. I was famous for my hops. All I ever did was waterski all summer long since I was 3. Could dunk in 7th grade at 5'11 and was really killing it when I went up to 6'4.

waterskiing was my key. Plus you just can't do heavy lifting and get big legs and be able to jump . You have to work your 'fast twitch' muscle fibers for that explosive ness that the pros have.

Doing squats where you explode up will improve your vertical jump. Leg press will also help. You can also keep your leg weights on and practice jumping up onto a box or platform. Basically, mimic jumping with weights.

How old are you? If you're still growing, I strongly perfer you not to use any weight because you don't want to stop your bone growing. Don't you want to be taller instead? Use jump rope instead of ankle weight.

That would seem true since you would be building leg muscle thus giving you more strength to propel yourself further.
