I am being charged with assault from a fight I got in about 2 years ago... can they do that???

did they serve papers for court? no time limit

Each state has a different statute and time limit so it would help to know what kind of a report was filed and the charges. Assault covers many different actions .Also a phone call to your district attorney can give you the answer

If the statute of limitations has not ran out, then yes.

For smaller offense, which I think assault is, there are statutes of limitation but you'll have to check to see what they are.
