the body continually makes new cells because the old cells in the body are continually dying. Take for example skin cells.... the top layer of skin consists mainly of dead skin cells which flake off when rubbed... if the body didnt produce new skin cells then we would just eventually run out of layers of skin and be skinless....
in other words the body makes new cells to replace old ones that die(normal process).

Mitosis occurs so that the new cells have the same information of the old cells.. when the cells divide inportant sturctural info is transferred to both cells. this is so that cells in the liver know to become liver cells and not skin cells etc...

mitosis occurs because the organism needs the new cells to continue life. The processes involved in mitosis are only dimly understood but it is known that uncontrolled mitosis = cancer. Micro-biology really shows us how much we don't know. Just the fact that you can use "mitosis" in a sentence tells me you have an interest, pursue it!

Mitosis occurs so that the cells always have the same information. The body constantly makes new cells because they do not live forever.

Cells only function for a (relatively) short time. In order to keep your body functioning, cells must be constantly multiplying.

Why are people constantly born and constantly dying? Why does human reproduction have to occur?
