According to many polls, almost half of the adult population of the U.S. are opposed to abortion. Why then, are not all childen being adopted?

Financial reasons? A belief that they are not emotionally or physically prepared to raise a child? Fear that it would interfer with life plans? That it would have a negative impact on the children they already have? That their age is an impediment? Simply don't want another child?

No, they have already determined these reasons to be invalid.

So, what is the reason?

I love you.

Will you marry me?

P.S.: I'm Pro-choice too; so we don't have to have any children if you don't want them.

It is REALLY expensive to adopt a child. It costs upwards of $15-20,000. I know I don't have that kind of money...most people don't, except for celebrities.
Also, most children who are in the foster care system were taken away from their parents. They weren't children who were originally going to be aborted and then their mothers changed their mind.
Why are there so many ads from people seeking to adopt children?

By the way, I'm very much pro-life, my husband is pro-choice, and we're considering running a foster home once we're settled in one location. It's just not feasible while he's in the military, and we're stationed in Germany.

I know someone who adopted a baby of a prostitute. The mom ended up getting the kid back after 18 months due to the fact that adoption laws are so screwed up in this country. The mother was living out of her car with two other kids from different johns when pregnant with the baby. Now the court sees fit to give the kid back to the junkie. Go figure.....

That is a suprise to me! My nefew and niece wanted a child so bad. She is a good person and he is a hard working man.
They tried for years to adopt a child. She has diabetes and is afraid to give birth. They said that her health wasn't good enough.
Finally found a women who would adopt a child to them but by that time she was almost 40 years old. He is now a beautiful well adjusted teenager. She lived to raise him. But they were disappointed so many times, they almost gave up.
It is very hard to adopt a child in the USA everyone kept saying go to China you can adopt there. But you have to be rich to get a child over there.

I asked that same question for 18 years.

75% of the children in the foster care system are NEVER even put up for adoption.
They are placed in orphanages. Big money coorperations own several of these (group homes) They recieve 4000-5000 per month per child to house them and feed them.

Who would want to give up that kind of income?

There are alot of couples that would like to adopt in the United States, but they have to go through so much red tape and the waiting period can be between 5 - 10 years..It is easier for them to travel to Russia ,China ,Africa ,etc .

Philosophy, wow. Okay . . . .

I know of exactly one person who gave up a baby and three who kept a baby. They are all equally miserable. I think (I don't know for sure) that people who give up babies for adoption are afraid that the baby will change their life so much that it will be ruined forever. From my experience with the person who gave up her baby, I know that she felt the baby would ruin her chances of becoming rich or successful. It was what her mother thought, too.

Sorry to burst your "already invalid reasons" idea, but your experience may vary. Who knows.

You can adopt cheaper from other countries, some people don't want children, some people can't have children and would prefer not to have someone else's child b/c they are worried about behavioral issues that could be genetic.

in order to adopt you have to go through an extensive application process.. Plus there are more orphans out there than parents to adopt. abortion is wrong but so is putting your kid in an orphanage.. If you cant take care of the kid dont get pregnant we all know how to prevent that. and if you cant take care of him/her get help from anyone who can give it. family friends neighbors churches and if it comes down to it the state usually has a program to help single or unprepared parents.

How many have you adopted for being so critical of others?

What is your master plan? Go ahead and abort them all and give them NO chance at a life? Great idea. sheesh...
