hmm...I have three words for the "50 cars go around the same track a thousand times" crowd - Infineon and Watkins Glen. Also note a cursory glance at a race schedule will give even the most out-of-touch person an understanding that it's a different track every week. And just so you'll know...there are only two tracks on the schedule where the drivers are scheduled to complete 500 laps (well short of a thousand) - Martinsville and Bristol.
Anyone who thinks that NASCAR is "just for rednecks" should look around a bit and you will see that some of the most sophisticated people in each NASCAR market attend the races. With the advent of of new "drivers of color" like Bill Lester and Juan Pablo Montoya I think the redneck argument has been quashed for good. NASCAR...it's not just for good ol boys any more.

It's 43 cars, approximately 500 times in a row or less.
And if you actually watched it, you'd probably see something different. The chariot scene in Ben Hur, played out in modern cars for the lead. Crashes. Bumps. Spin-outs and recovery. Cars going where you wouldn't think they could.
And then there are always, always, always the rivalries!
This weekend, a driver won his first race ever by tapping into the second-place car (he was in third) and making the leader and second-placer wreck--on the very last lap. The boos were so loud, they were in the background anywhere the guy tried to interview. Boring?
You can have your opinion, but you don't have to be an @$$ about it by coming in to insult people, anyhow.

Well nobody is forcing you to watch it now are they? If you don't like Nascar..fine....go watch another sport. But don't come in here and bash us and our favorite drivers just because you don't understand it! Maybe if you sat down and actually watched a race you would understand why we Nascar fans find it to be extremely exciting!
And seeing as how so many of the haters don't like Nascar and think that all they do is turn left...how about you get in one of the Nascar race cars and see how "easy" it is to drive! I betcha you'll change your tune really quickly when you see how it's done.
We're not bashing F1, IRL, etc. are we? No...us Nascar fans stay in the posts about Nascar! It's a shame that the so-called "Rednecks" have more class than anyone else! And before someone calls me a "redneck" I am African-American and a woman...and I didn't know that a African-American could be a "redneck".

Why is F1 so boring?
You're another one who thinks it is just "Go fast, turn left, repeat." Do you know anything about strategy? 2-tire stops? 4-tires? None at all? Wedge, track bar adjustments, and spring rubbers? Air pressure adjustment? Brake bias adjustment? Do I pit at the yellow flag, or do I take a chance my car will hold it's handling well enough and stay out? I have 100 laps left and am told I have 98 laps worth of fuel, do I race hard knowing I need to get a splash of gas, or do I conserve and hope that I can finish well? If you are lost in this, this is what goes into every pit stop of every NASCAR race. Welcome to NASCAR Nation, population 75 million.

Pretty stupid question. If you don't like it, why don't you try watching golf? I'll bet most people that think Nascar is boring, will be watching golf. Now that's boring! And to all the F-1 fans that are bashing Nascar--What's so great about F-1 when there is no passing and the order of finish is pretty much dtermined by qualifying. Boooooorrrrrrriiiiiinnnnnngggggg!!!!!!!

I used to feel the same way, but when you think about it, especially if you have ever driven at extremely high speeds, you want a course that is familar and has quality control as opposed to closing a strip of highway. One time I got my New Beetle Turbo S up to 127 mph on the interstate and immediately understood the finesse needed to stay in control of a vehicle at high speeds. You may never like Nascar, but maybe this will help you to appreciate the skill needed to drive long distances at high speeds.

Nascar is alot more than driving..it is strategy, teamwork, pits, avoiding the spin outs, anticipating track temps for chosing tires and pit strategy, there is controversy and comradery. It is also the smell of the fuel, the sounds of the engines, the tailgating, the day at the track. Once people go to a race live..they are usually hooked.
As far as driving in circles...much more exciting than it sounds..I suggest trying the Richard Petty driving experience. You really gain respect for what they have to do.

well here you go. For 1 there are only 43 cars and they have never gone around a 1000 laps so maybe watch a damn race and you might learn about before you go asking stupid questions.

The fastest I have ever gone was about 150. I was only hitting the ground ever now and again and the rest of the time I was flying and that was in a strait line. I can't even imagine going 50mph faster in a half mile circle. Kyle Petty said it was like flying a jet plane in a soup bowl. Maybe you should try to do it sometime?

No way! It's really cool to see 200 mph billboards for such fantastic products as Fruit of the Loom, Jim Beam, Tide detergent and Viagra flash in front of your Budweiser-filled, wife-beater wearing, hairy beer gut in perfect synchronicity with your attention span!
When the winner gets out of his car, he even talks in a slurred redneck drawl so that all the armchair quarterbacks can understand him! What with Dick Trickle, Jimmie Johnson, Viagra ads and a big, gay rainbow car you can even be comfortable with staying in the closet!
How on Earth could that POSSIBLY be considered boring? Gosh, your question is so UN-American!
