I like OTHER people animals. Like babies. But I just don't want to
have anymore animals. And it really baffles me cause Iv'e had lots
of cats......and a few birds. But ever since my last bird died, I just
can't do it anymore.......I have a cat right now, but I need to give it
another home. I TRIED to like him, but I don't have caring feelings
for the cat. So, I don't know, I used to love every one of my pets to death..and now, It's just gone. What is it ????? Thanks.

Thanks so much for the nice words, I am
not a selfish person at all, I'm very giving.
I at least can now have some sense of
peace knowing it's normal and ok to feel
this way. I can't blame it on age....lol THANKS ALOT.........

I think know what you are going through... I have had lots of pets. I had a cat named yogi for 10 years when she died i was devastated and didn't want any pets either... that lasted about 3 years until my mom started feeding this stray black cat, (buddy) and totally dumped him on me the little brat grew on me and I had him for 8 years. Through this time I moved away from home and he came along and my boyfriend became very attached, he was our baby. Unfortunately about a year ago he started having problems and after a long and hard few month we had to put him to sleep. It was hard for me but I had been through it before with Yogi. And my boyfriend had never been through losing a pet before......he took it really took it hard and now we don't have any pets and he doesn't want any at all, ever again. He just says it isn't worth it. Its to hard in the end. Maybe that's what you are going through? You put all your time, caring, cleaning up and looking after them not to mention all the money, and I really don't mean to sound shallow or imply that you are but the end result is that they pass on and your left with nothing really but good memories and sometimes that isn't enough.

Just give it time and maybe its most fair to give your kitty to a loving home until your heart can heal from your bird?

Good luck.... : )

You're burned out. That's perfectly normal. Don't feel guilty about it. At least you are finding a home for the cat...some people would just drop it off somewhere or have it killed. Give yourself some time, maybe you'll want pets again someday, but even if you don't--that's OK.

I've had pets in the past, but I just can't do it anymore...it's a lot of work!

you love the idea of something warm or cuddly and love having a chance to hold or look at it but deep down you know that babies and animals = responsibility and your more of the persons who likes pleasure more than work. who can blame you?
