If you have only stopped for 3 weeks. YES you can start again. I know this because I went to a lactation consultant after having my children. You will probably have to supplement because you have lost your milk supply but just keep letting the baby latch on and it should eventually get back to normal. If the baby won't latch on now then try pumping. If all else fails try a lactation consult. Good luck to you!

Yes you can relactate! First, get a supplemental nursing system and dump the bottles. An SNS is available online or from lactation consultant. It is a container that you fill with formula or pumped breastmilk that has a small tube that goes into the babies mouth with your nipple or fingertip.

Try to latch the baby on as often as possible and pump on the other breast while nursing. Pump in between feedings too.

Adoptive moms can nurse, so can you!-)

YES! Relactation is very possible for you. Start now by trying to latch your baby on. You can take herbs and supplements to build your milk supply back up. Since you stopped breastfeeding only a few weeks ago, it is entirely possible to gain a full supply back. You will want to have as much stimulatioin on your breasts as possible-- pump after nursing, use an SNS to feed formula until the milk comes back in,etc. I have a friend who did it, and she lost her milk supply due to medical problems requiring surgery and was able to nurse her daughter for 2 full years.

Please read my link for more information. Good luck!

try it. if it works youll have a low milk supply for a while. pump!pump!pump! take fenugreek and something like rose thistle (i cant remember the exact name) and drinks lots of water! let your baby breastfeed every feeding and supplement with formula. then pump each breast for 15-20 minutes after feeding your baby. it should work. it will takes lots of your time and energy at first. but once established you should be able to breastfeed exclusively just fine. your milk works like supply and demand so if you dont use it you wont produce it. the more you pump the more supply youll have.

You should still be able to produce milk for breast feeding though I have to say that you'll have a hard time getting the baby to readjust to breast feeding. The baby will likely have nipple confusion and might not want to nurse.

Yes, you can relactate. It hasn't been long enough for your supply to completely dry up. It will probably take some work -- regular pumping in between nursing sessions to tell your body to increase it's milk supply to the level your baby needs.

Check out the La Leche League website (www.lalecheleague.org/) for information on relactating. And good for you, mama! Breast is best. :-)

There are women who breastfeed adopted children and have never had children before. Yes it is very possible, however, it will take a good deal of time and determination to do it. Contact La Leche League, they deal with this sort of thing all the time.

I'm a guy so i'm not sure if you would produce milk. I will say my wife did that and we were never able to get our baby back on the boob.

i suppose you can as ur hormones will spur your breast to produce milk. you can try it with your baby and see if it works. if you really cant and you wish, i know that there are safe medications that the hospital prescribe to help nursing mothers. =) gd luck!
