i bought a car and dont kno what the previous owner used...and its time to change the oil badly

is ther any way to tell what oil was he using becuz u cant mix the two or put different one in next time....

plz help

no way of teling unles the previous owner took it to a shop in town and you could go there and find out what he used they should have records. But it really doesnt matter any way if youy want to use synthetic then go ahead. Next time want to use conventional then switch back doesnt matter one bit.

i own a repair shop,and i dint know who told you you can t switch to synthetic oil but they was wrong,,you can switch to it at any oil change if you want to,i been at this for 36 yrs,and i have changed a lot of them over,it don't hurt a thing on it,,as a matter of fact its good for it to switch to synthetic oil,,it will help the engine lasts a lot longer on it,good luck i hope this help,s.

It is much more important that you change your oil with a recommended quality oil than what kind of oil it is.

put it in your fingers and separate then you will see that the viscosity is bigger in the synthetic
