What should we do about school shootings?
What should happen to the shooters?
If they kill someone, should they go to jail for the rest of their lives? should they just go free?

What should we do about this?

You need to let God back in our schools. What happens to them should depend on their age, but if God is allowed back in you wouldn't have to worry about what to do to them, because if wouldn't happen then

I do not know what to do. The previous shootings, the gunmen killed themselves. I am not sure about the one in between the Bailey, Colorado incident and Amish Country crisis where the principal was shot. I honestly think school security is at a point where police should patrol the school at all times. However, and the shooters should definitely be in jail the rest of their lives.

School violence is on the rise. Just within the last few weeks I have heard of so many attempts and attacks upon schools. Just about 2 weeks ago in a small rural k-12 school the principle was shot to death by a freshman boy. These things are not unforeseen, we know violence is on the rise we just do not know when it's going to happen. I agree having police officers patrol the schools is a great idea, good luck getting that put into the county budget. It will not happen, in most areas there are not enough police officers on the streets let alone having one police officer on duty at a school. Most schools have liaison officers, but they are not at the school throughout the whole day.

This is something that is much deeper, it goes back to parenting. Our children have gotten out of control because of numerous things... lack of parental supervision, lack of discipline, lack of communication. Get that hefty belt out and whack their rears like in the olden days, there was not nearly as much violent youths years ago.

ONE of the most important things we need to allow back in our schools is GOD. I recall going to school and every morning saying the Pledge of Allegiance, we honored the flag, each other, and most of all our teachers. Let God come back into our schools and see where we are in the future.

SO many people fought to take religion out of school, why didn't those same fools fight to have IN GOD WE TRUST taken off American Currency??? Oh that's right it's because we are a money driven society!!

School shooter's should get the death penalty. Maybe all the school district's should hire police to patrol the halls and blast anyone coming in to do a child harm, and send them on to the next life. If it is a student that wants to put on an adults pants and shoot classmates, oh well!

Another solution, train and arm teachers so they can shoot back. After these punks who murder hear that it won't be a cakewalk to do it anymore, they will stop doing it. The answer is not gun control. Do you honestly think criminals will turn in their guns? Heck no. You need to be more brutal than your enemy, in this case criminals, in order to effect change.

Since you opened up this can of worms, therapy is a bunch of hogwash. It all starts in the home and the way we raise our kids. Maybe we need to stop letting them run wild and enforce some good old fashioned disclipline. Start paddling kids in school again and parents, start being parents again!

The bad thing is that there is no exact answer for this epidemic. I asked a questions similar to this, but it had to do with social problems within the US. The only way we can help this problem is by having a systematic way of dealing with students who are angry. There are signs of these troubled teens.

To answer your question, treat them like adults.. let the courts do what they do.

pay attention to the signs that are there. the principals & teachers usually seem shocked but not the students. They know who the loners are, who's being picked on, who loves the news of killings, etc. make it safe for these kids to say something if they know something. we have to get our heads out of the sand if we hope to stop this.
