It is so painful trying to watch hockey games featuring teams from the south.
Trying to watch Carolina, Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay, etc. is great for insomnia.
The ultimate snorefest would be Atlanta and Carolina.
Thoughts?

Truth:
I have a clue... Plenty of them to be exact. I never made reference or suggestions how good the teams or players are or are not. The teams, announcers, and matchups are of very little interest to people north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

It is apparent that some people cannot read. If you look above I have made zero reference to players, coaches, with that talent and/or ability. My opinion and that of others too is that these matches are as dry as toast. Not interesting for the most part.
Please engage brain before opening mouth, or in this case; keyboard.

One more thing... Winning the cup has no basis on this question; okay commentary. These games were dullsville prior to 2004.

Personally I have found since moving to the south that watching any sport in this area is a drag. The excitement and pride is not what it is in the north east and north west.

I don't understand why it would be unbearable to watch when most of the hockey players are from the north and Canada??? So if you can't stand to watch the southern teams, then what you are really saying is you can't stand to watch the guys from up north and Canada play, is that right? Maybe some good old southern born boy should try his hand at hockey then. Now I have been to a Carolina Hurricanes game and it definitely was no snorefest!! But you can snore all you want, they are the Stanley Champs. I really don't get why it upsets everyone that hockey is popular in the south. I mean football and baseball are so money driven now, nobody plays for the love of the game anymore. I don't see that with hockey, yet. So give us a break down here in the south, we love our hockey and especially here in North Carolina, we love our Hurricanes!!

Your point is as stupid as you are. The players and coaches are from all over the world, most are Canadian. The game is the same no matter where the rink is located. Since all the rinks are enclosed and air conditioned, the geographic location of the building is irrelevant. There are more ice rinks, per capita in Raleigh, than almost every city in the northern US.
The southern teams have some of the best players in the sport, all the teams you list have good teams this year that are exciting to watch.
If you want boring, try watching the Flyers or Islanders.
Don't hate us because we won the Cup and you're team can't. I smell a disgruntled Slugs fan who's bitter at his teams repeated failures and his city's perennial ineptitude. Nice new logo, slugs.

I don't care either way. if all we had 2 years ago was southern NHL I would have watched. I need hockey, yes NEED, not want...
To eah5151 your a childish girl. I mean really name calling and mocking our logo? Did you just graduate from 1st grade? You think any of the fans had any decision over the logo? NO dumb-dumb, we didn't, it was sprung on us. However that being said I don't care if we win any title in any sport, it won't change our city we will still get no respect, so what's your point? We're losers? ok fine. I just enjoy watching the games and when we make the finals being able to go down south (on game day) and getting some tickets right out of the box office. (ever try to get a playoff ticket for a northern team home game?)

Really? I'm not crazy about Carolina but I do love watching Kovalchuk on Atlanta and Nashville are a fast team with a cool tender.
The ultimate snorefest to me is any Make Belief game.
Actually I tried watching Calg-Edm but it bored me to death. Calg just suck the way they play.

I couldn't disagree with you more. It's true that hockey is more of a "northern" sport, but if you're a true "southern" hockey fan, all that matters is that you're getting to watch your favorite team. It may be boring to you, but that's cause you're from the North. If you were born & bred in the South, and you're favorite hockey team was a Southern team, say the Stars (cause they're my favorite), all that matters is that you are getting to cheer on your favorite team. You should think of it this way - count yourself blessed that you even have a hockey team to root for! If you like hockey, then you should understand that.
Plus, if you don't like it, then don't watch it and you won't have anything to complain about!

Last month (preseason) we saw Carolina play Nashville in Nashville and, although it wasn't as exciting as watching Philadelphia play NY - it was still a great game...
I think that if you give it a few more years, as the fans become more knowledgable and the new players emerge there will be more excitement.

I disagree. A lot of transplants are in the South and like hockey. I have friends in Atlanta and Tampa who love hockey. It is also catching on in the areas down south. It beats wasting your life watching Neck-car, err... NASCAR right?
I think that you are cranky because the Southern teams are suddenly winning the Cup..... ugh!
GO FLYERS!

Yes, but take the exact same players and put them on a Canadian team and you guys would be going on how great they are just because the team is LOCATED up north. That has nothing to do with it. You guys are just ticked off because your team can't win the Cup. Grow up.
