if 1:3
then 9:27

because the ratio is 1:3 ..if there are 9 hamsters..you multiply 1 by 9 to get the number 9 therefore you multiply the other side of the ratio as well as your result you multiply 3*9= 27

hamster : gerbil
1 : 3
1/3 = 9/x
cross multiply , you got
x = 27
For every 1 hamster, there are 3 gerbils. So for 9 hamster, you multiply it by 3 to get 27 gerbils.

Hamsters are 1,gerbils are 3.Therefore if the amount of hamsters are 9 you need to multiply 9 times 3 to get the amount of gerbils. That is all the help I am giving.
