I look for compatability and a sence of humor. Liking the same things is a definite plus, but not really that important. Honesty is VITAL - without honesty there cannot be any lasting relationship. A love of education and seeking the truth in all things.
If I were a female, I would add ambition and ability to make money. Also being able to see five and ten yrs down the road, as in "where will I be and what will I be doing 5 or 10 yrs from now."

Someone who had to be my friend for quite some time, because in friendship you don't have to put your best foot forward, no hard work to impress you just have to be you.
Our values, beliefs, and faiths, family culture, should at least align or agree more than 60%. Our opposite poles should complement and not conflict. We should have some the same interests so that we could do this stuff together during past time. Most couples find themselves: husband hooked on playing chess and wife hooked on playing piano during past time.
And there should be RESPECT, HONESTY, OPEN-COMMUNICATION, and COMMITMENT.

Well you want to make sure first of all that he is a good person. You want to make sure that he has a job, a car and a home. You want someone that you can relate to not someone who you have noting in common with. You also should make sure that if you plan on having a long term relationship with this person that you meet their family. If you don't get along with the family then you'll have alot of fights. You need to find out his likes and dislikes because you don't want someone who can stand to spend time with his family because then if you plan on having a family he wont want anything to do with you or your children. You should also get some info on his past because you don't want anything scary to come out and have it be to late. You should also make sure that he doesn't have any std's

I'd say... sense of humor, attractive (my personal taste & not what others think), wisdom, educated, a compromising partner, faithful, dedicated, and loving.

Someone who has similar values, attitudes and interests to you. Someone you like and respect.
If you find someone with these qualities, you will still enjoy spending your life with them, even when the passion has gone.
