1) A principal reason why so many are unfamiliar with God’s name is because of a superstitious idea that arose among Jewish people many centuries ago. This superstition held that it was wrong to pronounce God’s personal name. Just what caused the Jews to adopt this idea is not certain. Some claim the teaching arose that the name was too sacred for imperfect lips to speak. Another view is that the intent was to keep non-Jewish peoples from knowing the name and possibly misusing it. And still another claim is that the purpose was to protect the name from use in magical rites.
2) An agreement between two or more persons to do or refrain from doing some act; a compact; a contract. In this case, any covenant between Jehovah God and humans is God giving humans his laws to follow, usually in return for his blessing, love, hope and promises.
3) Just before Israel entered the Promised Land, in 1473 B.C.E., Jehovah made a covenant with natural Israel at Moab. (De 29:1; 1:3) Much of the Law was here restated and explained by Moses. The purpose of the covenant was to encourage faithfulness to Jehovah and to make adjustments and set forth certain laws necessary for the Israelites as they changed from a life of wandering to a settled life in the land. (De 5:1, 2, 32, 33; 6:1; compare Le 17:3-5 with De 12:15, 21.) This covenant ended with the abolition of the Law covenant, for it was an integral part of the Law.
4) Very simply his children. God wants us to draw close to him so he can draw close to us. Jesus wanted us to consider Jehovah as our heavenly father, to pray him, to have faith in him, to observe his laws, and above all to love him as a father and creator of all things.
Hope this helps!

People, Jewish and gentile alike, have respect for God, and so do not utter His name.
A covenant is like a contract with God. Don't go back on it.
God makes the same covenant with everyone who will accept it. He wants people to follow his commandments and come to Christ.
Jesus is calling us to a child/father relationship with God, the Father. We are his children, and Jesus's brothers and sisters.
